I am a
Research Officer (Post-Doctoral Researcher) at the College of
Engineering of
Swansea University , under the supervision of
Prof. Michael I.
Friswell . My current research in shape changing (morphing) structures is part of a research project
funded by the European Research
Council entitled Optimisation of Multi-scale
Structures with Applications to Morphing
Aircraft.
My academic goal is to employ the multi-functionality of smart materials and systems in mechanical,
aerodynamic and biomechanical applications by conducting research, teaching and advising students.
During my research and teaching career, I've had the opportunity to participate in a variety of research
areas related to coupled aerodynamic, mechanical and electrical fields. Some of these topics include modal analysis,
vibration energy harvesting, structural mechanics, intelligent (or smart) materials,
and electromechanical morphing wing aircraft. In addition, I have been active in expanding my research interests
into the area of medicine and biology by earning an NSF fellowship and attending the ASME NanoEngineering for Medicine and Biology conference.
I have a strong interest in coupling smart material based structures in biological systems, soft (compliant) robotics and mechatronics.
