Dr Chowdhury is currently Lecturer of College of Engineering in Swansea University (from November 2008). He is the winner of the prestigious Newton International Fellowship (2008). He received his PhD in 2008 from Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He was also working as a research associate at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (February 04-November 08).

Dr Chowdhury's research areas are multidisciplinary in nature and include Nano-Structural System, Atomistic Simulation, High Dimensional Model Representation and Probabilistic Methods in Science & Engineering. He has published 42 peer reviewed journal papers and 27 conference papers in these areas and attracted £100,080 research funding. He is a member of professional bodies such as IEEE, American Nano Society, The Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN), and reviewer of 6 international journals. In 2011, he received outstanding paper award on stochastic sensitivity analysis from Emerald Literati Network. He was the finalist for the best student paper competition in the ASME-PVP 2005 Conference at Denver, Colorado.
